FIE Gold award for EBI Food Safety's  LISTEX™ as 'The Best Innovation in Food Ingredients'

In London, at the world's largest food ingredient event, the FIE Gold Award “The Best Innovation in Food Ingredients” was awarded to EBI Food Safety's LISTEX™. The awards are the traditional “Oscars” of the food industry, chosen once every two years, and are recognized as the most important honor in the food ingredients industry. The award is a confirmation from the industry that the use of phages against unwanted pathogens is expected to become an industry standard. [Press Release PDF ]

EBI Food Safety appoints Mrs. Jolanda van Haarlem MBA as its new Sales Director.

Before joining EBI Food Safety Mrs. van Haarlem was the European sales and marketing director for Quest (currently part of Givaudan, the world’s largest flavour company). Prior to that she worked for Friesland Foods Domo’s Food where she was responsible for its ingredients business. [Press Release PDF]

FDA and USDA extend GRAS approval for LISTEX™ for all food product

The FDA and USDA have extended GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) approval for LISTEX™ bacteriophage for use on all food products susceptible to Listeria.  This approval opens the door for all US meat and fish processing companies to use LISTEX™. The approval follows earlier FDA GRAS approval for cheese,  in October 2006.  [Press Release PDF]

The European Food and Feed Law Review (EFFL) 03-2007 has published an article that clarifies that the use of LISTEX™ as a processing aid is exempted from EU regulation and free of labelling requirements, provided the manufacturer observes the mandatory safety requirements pursuant to Art 14 Regulation EC Nr 178/2002. SKAL confirms organic status of LISTEX™

SKAL, the designated Public Inspection Authority of The Netherlands, confirms that in conformity with EU Regulation (EEC) nr. 2092/91 Annex  VI Section B,  LISTEX™ is a processing aid which can be used also in all organic food products. SKAL surveys the organic production in accordance with the public law, based on EU-Regulation (EEC) nr. 2092/91. This occurs by order of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. Products certified as organic by an EU recognized inspection body can be marketed as such within the entire EU.

LISTEX™ clears Listeria problem in fish processing.

The presence of LM in fish products has been studied in literally hundreds of scientific reports. Despite rigorous HACCP programs, slaughtered fish entering the processing facilities are a continuous source of LM-contamination. We are pleased to see that the use of LISTEX™ P100 also decimates LM in fish production facilities. [Press Release PDF]
